PUEBLO will celebrate its 23rd Anniversary on November 10, 2012 at the Jack London Aquatic Center, 115 Embarcadero (along the Estuary) between Oak Street and 5th Avenue. Dinner tickets are $35 on a sliding scale and can be purchased on line by going to www.peopleunited.org and clicking the 'donate' button.
The venue this year is larger than it has been in the past when we were at the Lake Merritt Boathouse, so we are looking forward to being able to welcome more of the PUEBLO family and supporters. The Aquatic Center is a beautiful venue, along the Estuary, with off street parking and all the amenities. Dinner will be catered by the venerable Oakland institution (started in 1941) Dorsey's Locker. And, as usual, terrific entertainment and raffle prizes.
This year's recipient of the PUEBLO Community Leadership Award will be the East Bay Express:specifically, editor Robert Gammon, and journalists Ali Winston and Joaquin Palomino, for their series of investigative reports on the Oakland Police Department's ongoing and various challenges which may prompt a Federal takeover of the Department.
So, please buy your tickets on line (they can also be purchased at the door) and make sure to be on hand for this wonderful evening of community solidarity in the cause of social justice.
