PUEBLO presents forum on Restorative Justice!

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 at 7:00 PM

PUEBLO presents forum on Restorative Justice! We are proud to co-host, along with Oakland Restorative Justice for Youth, a dialogue on Restorative Justice, featuring Paul McClod, Ph.D., a renowned expert in the field.

Dr. McCold will describe restorative justice developments in the U.S., at the United Nations, and around the world. He will present the body of research now available and consider some of the implications for the development of a humane response to crime and other social harms.

For those of us who seek a more effective alternative to the “lock ‘em up and throw away the key” approach to criminal justice, Paul McCold has offered important contributions intended to pave the way for greater acceptance of restorative justice as a more humane, cost-cutting and effective method of ‘corrections’ than our present system offers.

To learn more about what restorative justice is and to contribute your insights and experiences, we invite you to this free event.

Mayoral Candidates Harland, Johnson and Macleay are supporting this event and will attend, as will one of Oakland’s leading advocates for restorative justice, City Council member Nancy Nadel.
